Understanding A Feng Shui Fountain

Posted by: Money Monks | Comments (1)

A lot of people have a feng shui fountain or similar water feature in their home, but surprisingly few people actually know what feng shui is and the benefits it can provide. Feng shui is a system that was formulated in ancient China. The focus of this art is promoting a flow of good qi, which translates to English as energy flow. Qi is important in many Eastern arts, including acupuncture and various styles of kung fu.

The core idea behind feng shui is to design a living or working area so that it promotes positive energy which will in turn have good effects in your life. This is accomplished in part by balancing the five elements: metal, earth, fire, wood and water. Since most people don’t have ponds near their houses, a feng shui fountain is often used to fulfill the water role.

Even if you don’t believe in the power of feng shui, that doesn’t mean that a fountain isn’t a good investment. Many people like to have a fountain in their homes or workspaces because the sound of running water can be calming. They can also make nice decorations.

No matter your sense of style, there is a feng shui water fixture to fit it. Many people favor a classic Chinese design, while others like to have a more modern edge with western influences. Some people opt for truly wild abstract fountains. Fountains are available in a variety of sizes, as well. They range from huge outdoor fixtures to wall-hanging fountains to tiny fountains that will fit on a shelf or small table.

There are a lot of rules to follow if you want to reap the positive energy benefits of feng shui. Here are a few basics to get you started. There are two big things to watch out for. First of all, you don’t want a fountain in a bedroom. The water element can bring added anxiety to one’s life when located in a sleeping area. The other caveat is to avoid placing a water feature in the south, as fire (which clashes with water) is the dominant element of the southern orientation.

The optimal places for a feng shui fountain are east, southeast, or northern sections of your home. Each area is associated with a different positive energy flowing into your life. An eastern fountain promotes health, while one placed in the southeast supports your wealth and prosperity. A north-located fountain will bring positive energy that will support your career and livelihood.

If you’re interested in exploring the concepts of feng shui, a fountain is a great place to start – but there’s a lot more out there to learn!

Unfortunately for most people, they don’t realize that when they begin to physically and mentally slow down — often liberally — they begin to start a long, slow decline. It’s always better to keep moving than to keep standing still, by far. For motivation, consider that those who keep moving — both in their minds and in their bodies — tend to live longer and be more productive than those who don’t.

What this means is that people aren’t actually rusting from the inside — though the phenomenon of oxidative damage, brought on by free radicals in the body — exists. No, what this means is that people who don’t engage their minds or bodies where both really do enjoy life more and enjoy more of it for a lot longer. If that isn’t enough motivation, it’s difficult to figure out what else would be.

One effective way to stay busy at least in a mental fashion is to consider what it might take to make money online. Certainly, the activity needs to be legal and legitimate and it also needs to be involved. When done the right way, in fact, it can really actually begin to not only bring income in but also improve mental acuity and even desire to do certain other physical things.

It’s more about just keeping people involved in the world around them and busy. Studies show that those who end up self-imposing some sort of mental and physical confinement solely because they believe they’re getting older tend to perform poorly on a range of physical and mental fitness and acuity tests, for a fact. Move with a purpose, and stay one step ahead of pernicious rust, in effect.

A very effective method for staying mentally fit — occasionally — it is to pick up a musical instrument and learn to play it. Go to the music store and check out, for example, a nice Alvarez acoustic guitar. It certainly will fit well in the hands and it’s bound to deliver hours of enjoyment after one learns to pluck out a few chords, which is easy enough to do, in truth.

Another useful activity to do on occasion is to just plain get the house uncluttered and free of junk. Maybe that old black helmet, that once belonged to an equally black motorcycle which was sold off long ago, can be stored away, thrown away or sold off. Certainly, leaving it laying under the dining room table for yet another decade isn’t the way to go.

It’s important for people to understand that physical and mental activity — if carried out regularly — can help one live a very long and productive life. Don’t think that chronological age should be an impediment to doing much of anything anymore. Avoid the rocking chair on the porch whenever possible, especially if that rocking chair is calling out for a decades-long stay.

After spending many years working for a large corporation, I decided to quit and start my own business. It was wonderful in the beginning. I could wake up when I wanted to, I did not have to make the long commute to the office, and I could choose which days I wanted to work. After awhile, though, I started to notice I was very stressed, and that I had put on a few too many pounds. It was no big deal, I told myself, I would find time to work out when my business was stable.

Two years later I was fifty pounds heavier. I could not ignore it any longer, I really needed to do something. But where was I going to find the time now? All the work I put into my business was paying off, and I was busier than ever! What started out as me being able to make my own schedule turned into me being unable to shut the office door and walk away. I was tired, stressed, overweight, and starting to miss my office job.

So, as a final effort to get control of the situation, I convinced myself to join a gym. I figured the commitment of the contract and the money would force me to follow through and go to my workouts. I was even considering an expensive gym so the guilt would be even worse if I skipped a day.

Then, one very stressful day, I made a cup of coffee and went to the back porch to try and settle down. It was a bright and sunny day, and this made me even more frustrated. I started a lot of very negative talk about how my own business was no good if my life was a total mess. I never even got to be outside anymore! To distract myself, I picked up a book from the side table. It was a gardening book.

I was completely in love with the idea of gardening and had been since I was a kid. I loved everything about it, from digging in the soil to harvesting. I had a huge collection of gardening books and a file cabinet full of articles. It was all for the day that I would finally have time to get a garden of my own.

That’s when it hit me. Why join a gym and literally force myself to get exercise? I could spend the same amount of money on supplies for my garden. Instead of trudging along on a treadmill and staring at a wall, I could be hauling soil and hoeing rows. Instead of forcing myself, I could treat myself. I could do something to help myself live longer and be happier at the same time!

So I went for it. And though I won’t be getting into skinny jeans any time soon, I have lost some weight. But even better, I found an effective way to manage my stress while realizing a dream. There is nothing more soothing and satisfying to me than to take a basket outside and fill it with fresh vegetables from my garden. On a hectic day it is so easy to give myself permission to shut the door to my home office and go out in the garden for a half hour to recharge. When I crave a snack I graze in my garden or treat myself with a gardening article. My garden taught me being healthy is not just about weight. It’s about finding out how to be happy.

The vast amount of people go on vacation to escape the stresses and strains of everyday life and just enjoy themselves for a little while. This often means no dieting, no exercise and looking in the mirror only to check tan lines. However, an increasing amount of people are concerned with keeping their body in shape and their fitness levels up when on vacation, so here are some tips on how to do it without compromising on relaxation.

Pool. If you don’t do anything else on your vacation at least you can use the swimming pool. Whether you’re on luxury cruises or beach breaks, there will always be a pool available to do a few laps in. As pools usually act as a welcome break from the intense heat on holiday, having a bit of a splash won’t seem like your doing exercise at all. Try setting a target number of lengths to build up to by the end of your holiday and you’ll not only stay fit, but also feel like you’ve achieved something on your break.

Cruises. Fit and active people can sometimes feel a little bit trapped on cruise ships, especially if there is not a great selection of facilities. Ships such as the ones SeaDream operates always have plenty of gym space and swimming pools to use and plenty of other activity choices. However, if you are limited, you should make the most of the time spent on land at the ports. Walking is a great way to stay in shape so resist the urge to use taxis to get around.

Sand Running
. Running is as much a therapeutic activity as it is a form of fitness training and beach running is like the standard kind but harder. As sand tends to give way under foot, the body is forced to work even harder to maintain momentum and ultimately a better workout is achieved. To ensure you path is most clear and you don’t overheat when running, it’s advisable to go before sunrise or alternatively at the end of the day when its cool and quiet.

Physical Fitness For Good Health

Posted by: Money Monks | Comments (0)

The number of obese individuals are growing worldwide. There are a number of factors that contribute to this dilemma. Poor eating habits, lack of exercise, inactivity, hereditary and other factors. Having a healthy diet and an increasing activity will counter this problem.

A personal trainer can help you in these areas. A fitness trainer can help you eliminate the risk factor of obesity and improve your health in the process. They provide different solutions for different groups of people such as mature individuals, youth and expectant mothers.

A fitness trainer can help you have the best training and the suitable exercises that will take off excess weight at the same time inculcate healthy eating habits in you. They can create weight-management programs that make use of the three important elements to weight loss. These vital elements are: nutrition, exercise and lifestyle.

Losing weight is not a quick process. Trimming off excess fats in your body takes hard work and may test your patience. You need to exercise daily and continuously. Also, you need to maintain your desired weight once you have achieved it.

Maintaining the right weight for your age and height is essential. Your efforts will be futile if you gain weight after you lose them. It is important not to slacken your efforts in healthy living and exercise. Investing books on health and exercise is an excellent idea. These books can give you clear idea on what to do if you want to maintain or lose weight.

Another thing you should invest on is a good men’s sport watch. This will help you time your daily exercises. Look for a sports watch that will fit the kind of regimen you have in mind.

For instance, if you run daily as part of your exercise program then you require a watch that is sweat-resistant and has a rubber case and lap timer on it. Some watches are good for swimming because they can stand water resistance. All of these watches have undergone tests that enable them to endure shock, sweat and other external threats. These watches can provide great help with your exercise routines.

Exercise should be included in your daily schedule. Good eating habits alone will not keep you healthy. Exercise can keep illnesses such as diabetes, heart ailment and other fatal diseases at bay. If you exercise constantly, you will find yourself becoming healthier and slimmer later.

Wondering how you can improve the look of your home with something exotic and unique?  An exotic adventure to the Far East could be just the ticket.  Asian decor is an elegant simple solution to bring life to a room. Just resist the urge to over-decorate.  In fact, when planning out your Asian decorating adventure, simplicity is the key to success.  No need to overdo it, when it comes to Asian themed decorating, less is more.

Color:  For the walls, think beige or tan, inspired by aged bamboo or rice parchment. This will create a nice base color for the room that can be accented with some bolder, Asian inspired colors.  Liberal use of black and white in furniture and accents can be desirable.  Green factors heavily into many Asian designs. They can range from the vivid greens of the bamboo jungle to the subtle luxury of a jade sculpture.  Use a health splash of red and gold to transport your guests to the Far East.

Floors:  Bamboo flooring is an obvious, but sometimes expensive flooring solution to create that Asian inspired feel in a room.  Bamboo-look laminate flooring is less expensive alternative, but any wood flooring is suitable in your new Asian room.  Terracotta tiling is another great option, but light stone and ceramic tile look great too.  While an oriental rug might seem like an obvious choice, consider passing on it.  Optionally, consider a natural fiber rug like a jute rug. This loomed, natural fiber alternative offers a simple solution that supports your design theme well. You should be able to find a 6' x 9' rug in the $200 range.  If you're on a budget, consider a wool blend or synthetic version.

If you prefer drapes in the windows, look for silk with a nice sheen and tie them back with gold cord that's tasseled.   Roll-up bamboo shades are a great selection when you're looking to create a more casual mood. You can find bamboo blinds that are painted in Asian themes with calligraphy, classical oriental art of Asian symbols.

Lighting:   Japanese Lanterns come in dozens of shapes and sizes to suit any taste or budget.   These are perfect.  Consider using candles to set the perfect mood.  Try not to use lighting that's contemporary or associated with a specific era.  A lighted water fountain can be a gread stand-in for a lamp that creates a true Asian atmosphere.

Furniture:  This is an area where you may want to splurge.  Traditional lacquered furniture is a mainstay of Asian d©cor.  Most often found a highly polished black, red, gold or white it's a centerpiece accent that can bring the Asian influenced theme together.  Think about a small table, trunk, armoire or stool.  Lacquer furniture is usually quite ornate decorated with scenes of flowers, landscapes and Chinese symbols.  Bamboo furniture and wicker are also excellent choices for Asian inspired d©cor.

Decorations: Now you get to really have some fun. Make bold decisions, just remember the axiom that “less is more”.  For function, consider a Shonji room divider available in hundreds of looks and colors. A Buddha statue makes a great Asian decor accent or you might consider a statue of Kuan Yin.  To add a bit of whimsy to your room consider a laughing Buddha statue.  It's worth doing some research on Feng Shui to get a feel for how this decorating philosophy can be leveraged.

Oriental fans and umbrellas are a great choice for the wall. Silk paintings, Asian themed wall reliefs and lacquired wall art are all exceptional choices.  Add an oriental fishbowl or porcelain vase. It makes a great Asian decor accent.  Ginger or tea jars, bonsai trees, bamboo plants, Asian clocks and mirros are all excellent decorating options. The only thing standing in the way of your perfect Asian inspired room is lack of imagination.

Have a blast with all the great decorating options, just remember that in the case of Asian-themed decorating it's important not to overdo it.  A cluttered room won't give you the desired effect.  Let a few key pieces in the room carry the theme and emphasize the approach that less is more.

Wishing to fit in those hot pair of skinny jeans just in time for your upcoming high school reunion? Yearning for a flatter tummy which you can flaunt during your tropical island getaway? Sure everybody wants to look great by losing weight. But more than just giving you a desirable form, losing weight has far more other benefits.

Did you know that heart disease is the foremost cause of deaths in the US alone? Did you know that there are some types of cancers which are thought to be triggered by obesity? Did you know that some joint diseases are brought about by all those unwanted pounds? And there are many more other health-related problems related to being overweight.

Startling, isn’t it? Now don’t go subscribing to diets or supplements promising quick weight loss just to spare yourself from all those problems. The truth is there are no quick fixes, especially when it comes to losing weight. Still, the best way to get rid of your excess baggage is through safe and effective means. And they are: having healthy eating habits and regular dose of exercise.

It may take a lot of sacrificing on your part, but watching what you eat will do wonders for you. Steer clear of all those greasy and calorie-packed fast foods. Instead, find time to prepare your own food. There are many recipe books for weight watchers you can buy at bookstores or online. You’ll be surprised to find that there are many scrumptious dishes you can make with healthy stuff.

Exercising will strengthen your heart and lungs, and improve your immune system. It’s also a great way to burn those excess calories and fats, so you lose weight effectively. Try to exercise for at least 20 minutes a day, at least 5 times a week. You can wear women’s or men’s sport watch as you do fun exercises to time your progress. You got plenty of choices: brisk walking, biking, swimming, dancing and many others.

Losing all those excess pounds can improve your overall health. You will feel more energetic throughout the day, enabling you to be productive. At night, you will notice that you are able to sleep so much better. Plus you wake up the next day feeling completely rejuvenated.

Tight V-neck tees simply look much better on a trunk that’s in great shape. Or women’s brown boots definitely look fabulous on lean legs. When you look good on the outside, your confidence shines through as you also feel good inside. But more than just getting you in great shape, exercising leaves you in the pink of health.

In the United States, there are 65 million people who suffer from back pain. As an adult, you will most likely experience back pain approximately once every fifteen years. Back pain is the second most common reason for doctor visits. It may limit your activities, but most cases are not serious enough to stop people from functioning during the day.

If you ever have one of those days when you do something and all of a sudden you begin to experience severe back pain, you can help yourself considerably by applying an ice pack to the place where the pain is coming from. Apply the ice for twenty minutes at a time. This will help to decrease the inflammation in the muscles that is caused by the strain. It is important to use the ice for the first twenty-four to forty-eight hours.

Once that time period has passed, begin using heat. Heat causes the blood to move faster throughout the body, and it will help the muscles heal faster. During the same time period that you are doing the ice and heat treatments, ask a family member to massage your back with a massager.

Remove your shirt, and lay flat across the end of your bed. If it is chilly in your room, close the door and turn on the delonghi space heater to warm up the room a bit. Relax as much as you possibly can while your back is being massaged. Ask them to concentrate most of the massaging to the area that is causing your pain. This is especially important when you first get up in the morning and before you go to bed at night.

Ibuprofeno is a great pain reliever and inflammation reducer. If you take one before bed, your muscles will relax while you sleep, and they will be less painful when you wake up the next morning. If your stomach cannot tolerate ibuprofeno, willow bark is a good natural substitute. It will kill the pain and relax the muscles.

Whenever a woman has a bout with back pain, it will help if she gets up in the morning and does the ice pack for twenty minutes and then has a back massage. Since moving the arms can cause more pain, it helps to use bb cream on her face. This cream is both a makeup base and foundation which reduces the arm movements in half, causing less pain.

Most people will find relief from their back pain by following these procedures. If your back pain is severe and continues to hurt, see your doctor. He can determine what is causing the pain, and if necessary, he can give you a local anesthetic directly into the muscle.

As medical care continues to improve, people are able to live to an older age. Start changing your lifestyle to a more healthy one today. Your older years can be golden years when you are smart about how you live.

If you are going to live longer, you want your quality of life to be good as well. It is never too late to put healthy eating and exercising into place. If you have not been exercising, you may have to start more slowly. It may take a little longer to see and feel the results so you need to have some patience.

Walking is great exercise for your entire body. Walking quickly can get your heart rate up. Of course, you are working your muscles. And it is good for the bones as well as weight bearing exercise helps keep bones strong. The best thing is, no fancy equipment is needed. As long as you do not have a medical condition impairing you, you can get started walking today.

One finds as one gets older that the body needs more time to recover. Many people complain about aches and pains that come with age. Getting massaged regularly can help. It is really good for your overall health. It gets the circulation going, it can help your immune system and it feels great too. Get yourself a Homedics massager to use at home when you cannot get to a spa.

Of course, some of the changes we go through as we get older are more cosmetic in nature. Although not necessarily indicative of poor health, it can be shocking to see the wrinkles appear and the hair lose its color. If you still feel young on the inside, it is very disconcerting to look in the mirror and see proof to the contrary.

One of the best ways to stay young looking, though, is to think young. Staying happy and keeping your mind open and active works wonders in this regard. As for the hair, you can go ahead and color it. People are continuing to color their hair at an older age these days so you will not be alone. As for the wrinkles, bb cream has been getting a lot of attention for making the skin healthier.

Make a conscious decision that you want to age with as much health and happiness as possible. Implement a way to make that happen as of today. Your older years really can be your golden years if you put some effort into it.

Many people nowadays don’t know how to look at life and learn to live it in all the positive ways that are available to them. They feel as as if they’re caught up in a rat race that they never really entered in the first place. But, there are ways to alleviate the effects of the race through positive activities that can help bring just a small amount of beauty to an individual life.

As an example, for anybody who loves to cook and wants to learn to do it better, it may be a good idea to sign up for private cooking classes. Surprisingly, one or two private sessions with professional chefs or cooking instructors really doesn’t cost all that much, as long as one doesn’t expect to have Wolfgang Puck teaching the class. And it can be a great way to begin cultivating beauty in a life.

It’s well to keep in mind, though, when it comes to cooking instruction that just about any chef or instructor willing to pass along the secrets of the trade can be very demanding. In part, they are artistes mixed in with a little Marine drill sergeant. However, the end result (great food that’s beautifully prepared) can make it worthwhile, so check out the Internet for one of these classes.

Another way to relieve stress and actually bring a fair amount of beauty to one’s life is to think about how one organizes and holds onto memories. Sure, digital photos can be taken and stored on a memory stick but that’s a far cry from something like a scrapbook album, which not only can have photos but also personal mementos that can never be scanned in and turned into ones and zeros.

People are funny creatures. They like to touch, and feel and smell. And though the computer and the Internet have been two of the single greatest innovations in human history, they still cannot replace these tactile senses that help people keep memories alive for a lifetime. Leafing through one of those albums, after they’ve been prepared, can be a great way to keep love and memories flowing.

Of course, learning how to scrapbook properly just doesn’t happen overnight, because preparing a beautiful one that adequately represents the memories people have might even require one to take a few adult education or community education classes, especially when learning how to make individual scrapbook pages. However, they can really be works of art when they’re built with love and affection.

That’s why living the interesting and innovative life can be so much fun. It doesn’t matter to economic circumstance, either, because taking joy in doing the smallest of things even in the most humble of circumstances really doesn’t require much. It’s nice to be the one that takes classes in just about anything, but it isn’t really all that necessary.
